Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Red Seal Pipefitter to join our client\'s dedicated team at the Iona Wastewater Treatment Plant in Richmond, BC. As a Red Seal Pipefitter in this position, you will be more than just a tradesperson; you will be a guardian of public health and environmental safety. Your work will involve the precise installation, maintenance, and repair of complex piping systems that are fundamental to the liquid waste treatment process.

Responsibilities
- Execute a wide range of journey-level pipefitting tasks, including the fabrication, assembly, installation, and maintenance of piping systems for water, sewage, chemicals, and air.
- Perform intricate refitting and repairs on critical systems, such as sulphur dioxide and chlorine lines, ensuring compliance with the highest safety standards.
- Carry out alterations and installations of new piping infrastructure at wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and related facilities.
- Accurately measure, cut, thread, and install various types of pipes and conduits, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, copper, and PVC.
- Lay out and plan work methods and procedures from blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure efficient and accurate project execution.
- Conduct thorough testing of completed work, using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, and other methods to ensure system integrity and proper functionality.
- Troubleshoot existing piping systems to diagnose malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement effective, lasting solutions.
- Provide clear direction and mentorship to assigned helpers, fostering a culture of safety and excellence on all job sites.
- Collaborate effectively with other Skilled Trades professionals, operators, and supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure projects are completed safely and on schedule.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, materials used, and system modifications for future reference and compliance.
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Valid British Columbia or Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate of Qualification as a Journeyperson Pipefitter.
- Proven experience as a pipefitter, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, or municipal wastewater environment.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver\'s Licence.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Health Certificate for watershed entry as required.
- Physical capability to perform the duties of the position, including working in enclosed or confined spaces and in environments that may be dirty (sewage).
- Must be able to provide your own standard hand tools required for the pipefitting trade.
