About the Position

Are you energetic, service-oriented, and excited to connect with people and guide them on their educational path? This front-line role works with prospective learners, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to develop and implement enrolment initiatives and events that support institutional student recruitment goals. Recruiters focus on connecting with future students through a collaborative provincial-wide recruitment effort, one‑on‑one appointments, high school and community presentations, and by supporting on and off campus events.

Recruiters seek out opportunities to engage with prospective students by researching upcoming events, evaluating potential impact and return on investment, and planning resources required to attend events (including booking travel arrangements). A high degree of flexibility, time management skills, and professionalism are required for this role. Recruiters are the face of Lethbridge Polytechnic and often the first person our prospective students interact with. Being friendly and welcoming at all times is a must. This position requires extensive travel in Alberta and surrounding provinces, including evening and weekend work.

Student Recruitment Activities
  • Promote a positive image of Lethbridge Polytechnic while conveying information to the public through professional conduct and on‑the‑spot decision making and problem solving.
  • Attend recruitment tours as outlined through the Educational Liaison Association of Alberta (ELAA).
  • Deliver high school presentations, host information booths, and attend career fairs.
  • Participate in planning and implementing on campus events including, but not limited to, Open House, Junior/Senior High Appreciation Night, and Counsellor’s Update.
  • Support campus tours and Student for a Day initiatives.
  • Attend other recruitment events on behalf of Lethbridge Polytechnic based on need.
  • Support recruitment initiatives at the program area level as appropriate.
Relationships and Communication
  • Liaise and build relationships with key stakeholders/partners (counsellors, career practitioners, CALM teachers, Indigenous liaisons, administrators and other representatives within the school system and community) to enhance awareness about the Polytechnic, its programs and extensive student services to ensure accurate and timely information is conveyed.
  • Network and build relationships with Lethbridge Polytechnic faculty and staff; keep up‑to‑date on the most relevant programs and learner services, including attending labs and classrooms and participating in experiential learning when available.
  • Respond to future student inquiries and emails from internal/external partners in a timely and professional manner.
  • Draft effective communications to prospective students and key influencers (i.e., high school staff, parents) and liaise with Polytechnic partners to schedule and deliver communications.
Technology and Digital Recruiting
  • Maintain, and update a variety of recruitment presentations based on audience needs and trends in prospective student demographics. Presentations are developed in a variety of platforms (PowerPoint, Adobe, print, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Polytechnic partners (i.e., Marketing, Audio/Visual Services) and external vendors to implement and maintain digital recruitment tools.
  • Answer prospective student emails, live chats, and phone calls.
Prospective Student Advising
  • Conduct 1×1 and group sessions with prospective students and influencers of prospective students (parents, partners, high school staff, etc.).
  • Provide information and advice on programs, admission pathways, career options, and possible laddering opportunities as related to the scope of this role.
  • Provide advising to local high schools at their campuses as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2-year diploma required.
  • Valid class 5 full driver’s license (non GDL).
  • Able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Customer service experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Salary

AUPE Class Level 9, Step 1 – $27.42 per hour.
