Overview

The Quality Control Assistant is responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance Supervisor in the day-to-day operations of the Central Kitchen facility. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees, customers and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy Way.

Major Responsibilities
  • Maintain department activity ensuring that goals are properly communicated and attained.
  • Responsible for completing and verifying documentation of hot cooking logs and cooling tracking logs.
  • Rearrange product to ensure proper cooling times are met.
  • Use various equipment such as data tracking probes to download and record temps.
  • Ensure compliance to company policies and procedures including cleaning, sanitation, government regulation and food safety.
  • Ensure proper Health & Safety practices are adhered to for efficiency and work safety.
  • Practice proper care and maintenance of all equipment.
  • May be required to support the production teams as required for the business.
  • May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires completion of a post-secondary education plus 1 year of experience in Food Production / Commissary environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
  • Superior quality and customer service standards.
  • High personal initiative and problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills.
  • Superior standards of sanitation, cleanliness and food safety.
  • Strong team-oriented approach to tasks.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Work & Sensory Environment
  • Lack of control over pace due to multiple and/or tight deadlines beyond one's control.
  • Ability to work in a cool environment for prolonged periods (4 to 6 degrees Celsius).
  • Exposure to workplace hazards including the potential of icy floors, spills and equipment malfunctions.
  • Required to lift, carry and/or handle heavy objects.
  • Required to stand for extended periods of time while performing production work.
  • Repetitive bending and twisting movements are required.
