Overview

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Project /Senior Water Resources Engineer (P.Eng) to be basedin Cambridge, Waterloo,Guelph, Toronto or Ottawa, Ontario. Youwill work on complex projects providing water resources solutions for a wide range of clients. Services would include a wide range of project types including water management support for mining and remediation projects, stormwater management planning studies and design; low impact development (green infrastructure) planning and design, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses including dam breach studies and floodplain mapping, surface water, watershed and stormwater runoff monitoring and modelling, industrial and construction site permitting support and inspections.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Directing multi-disciplinary project teams;
  • Providing senior technical input for delivery of water resources projects to our public, mining, industrial, private and First Nations clients;
  • Performing and overseeing detailed hydrologic and hydraulic studies, assessments, modelling, preliminary and detail design, cost estimates, specifications and input to contract documents;
  • Developing innovative green infrastructure solutions for the urban environment;
  • Developing site-wide and tailings storage facility, life of asset water balance models for mining clients;
  • Applying innovative hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, from 1-D to 3-D flow and transport models;
  • Leading floodplain and flood hazard mapping studies
  • Developing flood protection designs;
  • In-stream and urban stormwater water quality monitoring and modeling;
  • Developing and executing field investigation programs and construction support services;
  • Preparing erosion and sediment control designs;
  • Interacting with client representatives;
  • Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments;
  • Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring; and
  • Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering, or a closely related discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering, or a closely related discipline. (preferred)
    Skills, Experience and Qualifications
    • At least 7 years (8 + preferred) of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
    • Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS. (preferred)
    • Valid Canadian driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
    • Experience in mine or industrial water management (desirable)
    • Collection and interpretation of climatologic and hydrometric data, including statistical/frequency analysis and the development of climate projections.

    Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

    Minimum Salary: $110,00 / Maximum Salary: $150,000 (Cambridge, Guelph, Waterloo, Toronto, Ottawa)
