Qualifications

About the Role:

We are hiring Production Equipment Operators to join our team at Alberta Operations in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects, including the Path2Zero (P2Z) program, which aims to establish the world's first net-zero emissions site & a cornerstone of Dow's Decarbonization strategy.

As a Production Equipment Operator, youll play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of production units, such as Hydrocarbons, Solution Polyethylene, Gas Phase Polyethylene, and Power & Utilities. You will be responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting plant processes, optimizing equipment performance, and adhering to Dows strict safety and environmental standards.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Operate and monitor process equipment to ensure plant performance meets safety, efficiency, and environmental standards.
  • Conduct field checks and adjust controls to optimize operations.
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance, isolating systems as needed.
  • Follow Dows Life Critical Standards and Operating Discipline policies.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment, demonstrating leadership, initiative, and strong organizational skills.
  • Participate in ongoing training programs to enhance technical knowledge and operational expertise.
Facility-Specific Operations:
  • Hydrocarbons: Manage processes such as fractional distillation, cracking furnaces, steam turbines, and cryogenic systems. Opportunities to advance toward 3rd and 2nd Class certifications.
  • Solution Polyethylene: Operate reaction/catalyst systems, flash drums, and vacuum systems. Gain hands-on experience toward 3rd Class certification.
  • Gas Phase Polyethylene: Operate flammable hydrocarbon systems. Training includes travel to facilities in Alberta and Louisiana.
  • Power & Utilities: Operate natural gas/hydrogen cogeneration units and water treatment systems, with the potential to advance certifications.
Training & Schedule:
  • Initial training (approximately 3 years) will occur on a day shift schedule.
  • Once the plant is operational (estimated late 2026), you will transition to a 12-hour rotating shift.
  • Some roles require extended travel for training at other facilities.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Progress toward ABSA 4th Class certification or higher.
  • Minimum age of 18 with a valid Canadian drivers license.
  • Physically able to respond to emergencies and work in confined spaces, varying heights, and fully encapsulated PPE.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Technical diploma in Chemical or Power Engineering Technology.
  • 1+ years of experience in operations, instrumentation, mechanical, or electrical roles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
