Correctional Services contributes to the protection of society by administering sentences imposed by the courts and working with community agencies, government departments and other levels of government to support interventions to reduce recidivism. Probation Officers write court ordered reports, complete risk assessments and provide appropriate programs, services and encouragement to help individuals deal with the issues that bring them into conflict with the law. Probation Officers prepare court reports, provide supervision and support for adults and youth under probation, conditional sentences, community service orders and a variety of youth orders. Probation Officers conduct interviews, oversee case management, and deliver programs as well as being involved with alternatives to court, restorative justice and assistance with reintegration from custody.
