Description

Under the direction of the LWDH Program Manager or designate, the Prevention Support Worker (PRSW) provides support to individuals and families affected by mental health and substance use disorder (SUD). The PRSW promotes recovery and offers a supportive, confidential, and non-judgmental environment for clients.

All services align with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH). The PRSW must maintain a safe working environment for themselves, colleagues, and clients.

Qualifications
  • A Social Services/Health Care College Certificate, training, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well with clients, families, professionals, and agencies.
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented.
  • Broad knowledge of community resources and advocacy skills.
  • Understanding of harm reduction and supporting complex needs.
  • Excellent documentation skills, including EMR.
  • De-escalation skills and CPI training.
  • Proficiency in computer use and data collection.
  • Ability to complete Naloxone training during orientation.
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s License, with access to a vehicle.
  • Knowledge of Ojibway language and culture is an asset.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
