A North American energy company in Calgary is seeking a Compliance Officer to handle policy development, compliance monitoring, and training programs. The ideal candidate should hold a post-secondary degree, have 2-3 years of experience in compliance, and possess strong analytical and communication skills. One Permanent Full Time Position.
Policy Development & Governance
Evaluate existing policies for alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Identify gaps, benefits, and omissions in policy frameworks; recommend improvements.
Draft, edit, and finalize new policies or amendments; submit proposals for review.
Coordinate Policy Committee activities and organize policies throughout their lifecycle.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
Develop program documentation, including guidelines, procedures, and checklists.
Compliance Monitoring & Risk Management
Monitor internal information sources (e.g., risk assessments, audits, complaints) to identify and report on potential compliance vulnerabilities.
Communicate compliance deficiencies to affected business units and recommend remediation strategies.
Conduct periodic risk assessments and support internal monitoring activities.
Compile metrics demonstrating program effectiveness and prepare compliance reports.
Investigations & Ethics
Assist in ensuring investigations are conducted professionally, legally, ethically, and in a timely manner.
Develop and execute affiliate local systems for reporting, responding to concerns, and implementing corrective actions.
Training & Education
Design, develop, and deliver compliance training programs (online and in-person).
Create and deliver business unit-specific employee training and educational initiatives.
Support compliance and ethics education, awareness, outreach, and communication throughout the company.
Demonstrated ability to create and deliver training presentations.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
Build and maintain strong working relationships with business units, Legal, Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, and other functions with compliance responsibilities.
Consult with internal and external stakeholders to ensure comprehensive policy development.
Document processes and disseminate policy information to stakeholders.
Project Management & Leadership
Independently manage special projects and develop workflows associated with assigned initiatives.
Provide project-level support and vendor management as needed.
Ability to manage teams and large projects, providing oversight and guidance to others.
Ability to lead and influence in a matrix environment to achieve results efficiently.
Additional Responsibilities
Assist the Chief Compliance Officer with implementing organizational strategy for assigned areas.
Maintain accuracy and relevancy of program documentation.
What you will bring to the role:
Education:
Post-secondary degree in a related field.
Master’s degree considered an asset
Professional designation or certification such as CCEP, CIPP considered an asset.
Experience:
2-3 years related experience
Knowledge of legal considerations and policy-writing standards.
Experience in ethics investigations and compliance risk assessment.
Proven ability to design and deliver compliance training programs.
Focus on efficiency and continuous improvement.
Experience working in a large, decentralized, matrixed corporate setting preferred.

Ability to build positive and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive information.
Ability to work independently and in a multi-location team-oriented environment.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
Working Conditions:
This is an in-office position with minimal travel required.
