What is the opportunity? Are you an experienced project or portfolio manager looking to leverage your skills/experience to support the governance objectives of a functionally diverse business at RBC? Do you have a passion for establishing frameworks that make projects successful and aligned to strategic goals? The Chief Operating Office (COO) for Global Functions Technology (GFT) is looking for a detail-oriented Planning Manager to assist in governance requirements for all pillar PMO's under GFT. GFT is part of RBC's Technology and Operations division, collaborating with partners across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions to clients in Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. This role is not about executing a project; it is about defining how all projects run, ensuring consistency, compliance, and visibility across the GFT portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Compliance & Assurance: Ensure all projects adhere to defined governance standards and monitor performance through regular health checks and governance audits (Quality Assurance Review).
  • Subject Matter Expert & Training: Act as the champion for portfolio management governance, developing training materials and coaching stakeholders on best practices and framework adherence.
  • Reporting & Metrics: Develop and maintain robust portfolio risk reports presenting initiative performance against established KPIs and other key business metrics.
  • Design & Implement: Contribute to the development and adoption of a comprehensive initiative management governance framework, including policies, standards, templates that align with RBC Enterprise policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Must have: 3+ years of progressive work experience in Project Management, Portfolio Management, or a Project Management Office (PMO).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with producing reports for senior leadership and business stakeholder review.
  • Adept organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient analytical and problem‑solving abilities, capable of translating complex data into actionable governance decisions.
  • Nice-to-have: Proficiency with Portfolio and Project Management software (Planview).
  • Experience with Tableau or SQL.
