Occupational Therapist – Peace Collaborative Services

About Our Organization

Peace Collaborative Services (PCS) is a regional organization providing specialized educational support services across six Northwestern Alberta school jurisdictions. Grande Prairie Public School Division employs PCS staff on behalf of the jurisdictions in the region.

About the Opportunity

Peace Collaborative Services is seeking two Occupational Therapists to join our emerging multi-disciplinary school team. As the ideal candidate, you are energetic and enjoy working with children from Preschool through Grade 12. You will work collaboratively to integrate student programming with other disciplines such as Speech-Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Psychology and for students with visual and/or hearing impairment.

  • Responsibilities
    • Develop intervention programs, conduct periodic re-assessment/evaluation of individual programs and recommend adjustments as needed
    • Provide direct treatment intervention to specific children
    • Instruct teachers, assistants, volunteers and parents in occupational therapy intervention techniques
    • Participate in case conferences, parent interviews, medical consultations and clinic programming
    • Research and provide consultation regarding adaptive equipment and technical aids
  • Leadership and Program Oversight
    • Supervise para-professional staff and provide programming input for Educational Assistants
    • Provide input into the direction and requirements of the Occupational Therapy program in various jurisdictions
    • Develop, implement and evaluate a quality assurance program
    • Provide input into annual operating and capital equipment budgets
    • Provide input into the development and implementation of group programs
    • Attend staff, department and other meetings as required
Qualifications
  • You work well independently and can show initiative
  • You are self-motivated, and an enthusiastic learner with excellent problem solving skills
  • Must be registered or eligible to be registered with ACOT and/or CAOT
  • Valid driver’s license (Travel required)
  • Provide Police Information Check and Child Intervention Check
  • Pediatric experience is an asset
