Job summary

The Kingston Orthopaedic Pain Institute (KOPI) is seeking a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) to assist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The MRT will play a crucial role in ensuring patient safety, operating imaging equipment, and providing patient education, all in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating C-Arm for fluoroscopic imaging.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety and patient care.
  • Familiarity with Occupational Health & Safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate C-Arm and acquire fluoroscopic images during procedures.
  • Prepare physicians' trays and medical supplies using sterile techniques.

Mandate

Kingston Orthopaedic Pain Institute and our valued patients require Medical Radiation Technologists (MRT) to work alongside Pain Physicians and Orthopaedic/Sports Medicine Doctors during intervention pain procedures in fluoroscopy rooms. The MRT applies ionizing radiation to assist Pain Specialist Physicians in diagnostic and therapeutic pain procedures. The MRT's responsibilities include:

  1. Operate C-Arm and acquire fluoroscopic images during procedures.
  2. Utilize sterile techniques to prepare physicians' trays and medical supplies.
  3. Operate radiofrequency ablation equipment, ensuring patient safety.
  4. Educate patients about the imaging process, radiation safety, procedure details, post-procedure care, and confirm patient demographic records diligently.
  5. Adhere to MRT responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act and KOPI’s procedure manual.
  6. Monitor patient comfort and document procedures.
  7. Restock supplies for fluoroscopy rooms for upcoming procedures.
  8. Complete other duties as required by physicians, charge technologists, and leadership.
