This position provides clinical and administrative direction for all medical services at the New York University Student Health Center (SHC). The Medical Director serves as the lead physician for the SHC in matters of accreditation, credentialing, and licensing. They are responsible for staff in departments that include Primary Care, Urgent Care, Medical Specialties, GYN Health, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Optometry, and Administrative Support. The effective delivery of these programs depends on designing and executing strong policies and protocols, implementing and monitoring evidence-based clinical practices, and mitigating risks by overseeing a robust program of risk management and quality improvement. They report to the Vice President of Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing and serve on the SHC Executive Team and Governing Body.

Qualifications

Required Education :

Medical Doctor (M.D.) or DO from AAMC member medical school. Board Certified by American Board of Internal Medicine or American Board of Family Medicine. Has or is eligible to obtain 1. "Physician" license from New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions and 2. U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration registration before appointment.

Required Experience :

10+ years of years of progressively responsible management experience in a multi-specialty ambulatory health care organization.

Preferred Experience :

Leadership experience in a large, sophisticated college or university health center is ideal. Clinical experience with the kind of adolescent and young adult populations found at NYU is strongly preferred. Exposure to a variety of relevant disciplines especially including urgent care, preventive medicine, global health, and public health is highly desirable.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities :

Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals and constituencies at all levels of the SHC and University organizations. Knowledge of the goals and objectives of ambulatory care and its relationship to both primary prevention and tertiary / quaternary interventions.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities :

Advanced Life Support Certification and advanced certification in clinical areas of interest are desirable. Possesses broad knowledge of public health and health-related emergency response with emphasis on the control and prevention of communicable diseases.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $300,000.00 to USD $350,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education / training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
