Kadant Carmanah is recognized as a global leader of innovation in the design and manufacture of equipment in the Engineered Wood products industry and is the largest supplier of Stranders used in the production of Oriented Strand Board (OSB) and other wood‑based composites.

Nature And Scope Of Position

The Logistics Coordinator reports to the Logistics Manager on day‑to‑day activities. They are a part of the Operations team planning the day‑to‑day management of transport and customs activities to and from Kadant, and assisting departments as needed. The logistics coordinator will work closely with the Logistics Manager, Warehouse Manager, Production Manager, Stores team and sales team to ensure the timely shipping of day‑to‑day orders and ensuring logistics processes are met to fulfill customer and vendor demands and reach Kadant shipping OTD targets.

The primary focus of the incumbent is to ensure orders are shipped on time, with complete and correct customs documentation based on the terms of sale, and any shipping issues communicated to stakeholders. Shipping and order Issues will be worked on with internal teams to complete shipments in a timely manner.

  • Coordinate the execution of transport and customs activities for both incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Ensure sales orders are shipped on time, and purchase orders arrive as needed.
  • Ensure all shipping documents are accurate and free of errors.
  • Oversee timely returns of RMAs and shipment of stock transfers.
  • Monitor transport costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Work proactively to resolve customs‑related issues and prevent delays.

To be successful in this role, the logistics coordinator must have high attention to detail in at times a fast‑moving environment, a self‑starter, and possess the ability to communicate well with people.

Responsibilities
  • Use Epicor ERP for daily shipping and operation functions. Ex. to assign orders for picking and packing, create pack slips, review order fulfillment status etc.
  • Prepare customs documentation (invoice, COO, CUSMA, BOL, etc) for export, import, stock transfers, RMA’s, tradeshows.
  • Work with and coordinate with a variety of freight carriers to arrange timely pick up and export for a variety of freight services.
  • Effectively work with internal stakeholders for projects and shipments.
  • Prioritize urgent deliveries, shutdowns, and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Develop a working knowledge of our parts to understand their requirements and to identify them quickly.
  • Quickly identify and resolve shipping and customs issues, escalat when necessary.
  • Through effective written and oral communication ensure that problems, both current and potential, are brought to management’s attention, with appropriate suggestions for corrective action as situations arise.
  • Engaging in continuous improvement measures to improve processes.
  • Be courteous and professional at all times.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2‑3 years experience as a logistics coordinator or shipper, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Logistics supply chain, operations, freight forwarding certificates are an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment shipping multiple packages a day with regular priority changes to meet customer demands. Ideal candidate will have experience in all modes of transport. Courier, truck, LTL, FTL, rail, Air, Ocean.
  • Experience with domestic Canada, USA, and international shipments and customs paperwork required.
  • Knowledge of HS codes, Country of origins, and customs processes/procedures.
  • Have a high attention to detail to ensure all shipments have the correct shipping customs paperwork that match the terms of the sales, contain the correct lines, quantities, values, etc., with what is physically packed.
  • Understanding of Inventory management processes is valuable.
  • Be an outstanding team player and communicator. Work well with the KCD team on achieving on time deliveries, take direction from multiple department teams on daily priorities, be flexible to frequent customer shipping requests.
  • Possess computer skills (MS Office, Excel), ERP experience is valuable.
