A regional health authority in Lamont is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to provide high quality laboratory services to clients. The role involves handling and processing specimens while reporting results. Candidates must have strong phlebotomy skills and excellent communication abilities. Description

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications

Completion of an Accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or in its absence, experience will be considered. Strong Phlebotomy skills. Proven interpersonal oral and written communications skills are required. Excellent public relations and a service-oriented manner are essential. Must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with patients/clients, families, staff, Interdisciplinary team members, personnel from other departments, and leadership in a fast-paced, and changing environment. Proven analytic and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, logical/methodical work habits, and demonstrated ability to work independently are required. Candidate must be well organized and flexible. Must participate in continual Professional Development. Must be able to represent Laboratory in a respectful, professional and courteous manner.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the past two years: Working in a Healthcare facility. Phlebotomy, Venipuncture and capillary, Urinalysis. Connect Care LIS, medical terminology.
