About the position

As a Junior Accounting Clerk, you will support the Finance department by handling a range of administrative tasks and accounting duties, including updating financial records, processing invoices, assisting with financial reports, and maintaining databases. Other tasks include receiving and placing patient calls, filing paperwork, and scanning documents. To thrive in this role, collaboration, thoroughness, and keen attention to detail are crucial. Crucially, you will share the founder, Dr. Marjorie Dixon’s commitment to being the gold standard for successful reproductive health and fertility centres. This position reports to the Senior Accountant.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of accounts receivable process including generating invoices and following up with patients regarding outstanding invoices
  • Assist with accounts payable process, including invoice input
  • Act as initial point of contact for incoming calls from patients
  • Assist with creating financial reports
  • Liaise with Ministry of Health to adjust claims
  • Update financial and medical databases and spreadsheets
  • Assist with monthly reconciliations for multiple physicians
  • Scan and file consent forms to enable other departments to proceed
  • Respond to inquiries from patients and staff, in person, by phone, and via email
  • Ensure that records are current, correct, legible and traceable
  • Other duties as assigned related to Finance function

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Diploma in office administration, including accounting courses
  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience in an office environment, with track record of performing administrative tasks with accuracy and speed
  • Experience with accounting software, ideally including QuickBooks
  • Fully comfortable with MS Office and virtual meeting technology
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written (English)
  • Track record of regular and punctual attendance
  • Pleasant telephone manner and effective communication skills
  • Experience with Accuro an asset
