The position is responsible for directly managing insurance clients that are not assigned to a relationship manager on their policy providing in-force policy support and new business support to licensed advisors and Branch Managers within an assigned region. This role will also manage Segregated fund support from a sales and service perspective to all Advisors nationally.

Responsibilities
  • Acts as the main point of contact for National Branch licensed advisors in the assigned territory with questions and support related to in-force policy management activities, including delivering training on accessing policy details within Centralize and best practices for servicing activities.
  • Review statements and notices distributed to the Agent of Record; flag policies requiring attention; undertake policy analysis; request in-force illustrations; and provide necessary paperwork to advisors.
  • Proactively review a subset of in-force permanent life insurance policies at key milestones to identify potential issues that could impact client concerns and collaborate with advisors and SWIS colleagues to address issues and mitigate risks.
  • Identify complex opportunities (UL / WL) to involve an insurance consultant in in-force policies with potential new business such as conversions, reapplications, or secondary sales; review in-force blocks for opportunities (Term, CI, DI) and partner with ICs in the region.
  • Provide segregated fund and GIA support to licensed advisors, including answering questions, guiding on new sales/applications, directing advisors to segregated fund wholesalers, maintaining product details online, and assisting with managing segregated fund escalations and complaints.
  • Support SWIS management with client escalations and special projects to help SWIS Head Office deliver national mandates, including supporting Centralize and nationwide adoption.
  • Stay informed on industry changes related to the sale of insurance products with focus on Segregated funds, GIA, and training requirements for new licensees.
  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Promote efficient operations in line with Scotiabank's values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles while ensuring compliance with day-to-day controls for AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Qualifications

The Insurance Consultant & Servicing Manager must have :

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the life insurance industry with a university degree (or equivalent education).
  • LLQP in Ontario.
  • Willingness to become licensed in all provincial jurisdictions.
  • Experience with permanent life insurance and working knowledge of insurance carrier illustrations software and advisor portals.
  • Knowledge of estate planning uses for life insurance including corporate-owned life insurance strategies.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive client situations professionally.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to change in a dynamic environment.
  • Well organized, goal-driven, action-oriented, proactive, and resourceful.
  • Service-oriented with a focus on rapid, high-quality responses.
  • Demonstrated experience with segregated funds product sales and servicing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Fluency in English and French is desirable.
  • Desirable: Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and/or Certified Life Underwriter (CLU) designations.

Working Conditions :

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours occur with limited domestic travel.
