Who you are

Geotab is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner who will act as a trusted advisor to their designated business groups and support their teams in all facets of Human Resources and employee-related decisions. What you’ll do

Your key responsibilities include developing, implementing, supporting, and monitoring Human Resources initiatives to align with Geotab goals, policies, and business initiatives. You will:

  • Work closely with leadership on process improvements, programs, policies, and facilitating changes.
  • Collaborate with the HR team and department managers regarding recruitment needs and fulfillment.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of employee relations and employment legislation, applying diplomacy, negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills.
  • Apply excellent analytical skills to problem solve and make well-judged decisions.
  • Ensure cross-border consistency in handling employee relations (ER) issues as legally permissible and report on performance management trends.
  • Follow responsibilities matrix (RACI) for investigations, PIP management, career development, etc.
  • Take a consultative and collaborative approach to provide HR solutions within designated business groups.
  • Develop and execute HR strategies, goals, objectives, and projects in support of Geotab growth, people development, engagement, and retention.
  • Build relationships, advise, and coach employees and leadership on HR practices.
  • Proactively diagnose organizational challenges within designated business groups and develop solutions.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to leadership (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, maintain records of investigations, and advise stakeholders on progression.
  • Maintain knowledge of legislative requirements related to day-to-day management of employees to reduce legal risk and ensure compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and administer new HR initiatives; assist with policy changes to equip teams for ongoing changes.
  • Work with leadership on process improvements, programs, and policies and facilitate changes.
  • Collaborate with the HR team and department managers on recruitment needs and fulfillment.
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics.
  • Conduct effective investigations when required; produce findings and recommend actions.
  • Ensure adherence to Geotab policies on sharing confidential HR/employee information.
  • Support Geotab’s global strategic initiatives.
What you’ll bring to the role
  • 3–5 years of experience as an HR Business Partner.
  • Experience with HR policies and procedures.
  • Solid understanding of employee relations and employment legislation.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Diplomacy, negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to identify needs, develop solutions, and drive projects to completion.
  • Technical competence with software, including Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort working in a flat organization.
  • HR Certification is considered an asset.
