MAJOR DUTIES


Responsible for promoting and implementing health, safety and environmental programs in Industrial Automation Cambridge site in support of the corporate Health, Safety and Environment Standards. Acts as an internal technical resource to provide guidance and training on a variety of health, safety and environment issues.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Responsible for driving success in accident prevention through implementation of Company programs to promote and improve Health & Safety.
  2. Drives compliance with Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) training by working with departments for scheduling, external training, and provides internal training for ATS specific program requirements including contractor training.
  3. Monitors and audits field related activities to ensure HSE programs are being adhered to.
  4. Implement and administer standardized plant HSE processes to ensure compliance to applicable government regulations as well as corporate standards.
  5. Drives attainment of WSIB Excellence program.
  6. Manage third party sites that customers require ATS to use to maintain HSE information.
  7. Working with suppliers to schedule inspections, audits and disposable requirements along with managing purchase orders.
  8. Coordinates communication of HSE regulatory inspection activity with site leadership.
  9. Participates in the development and continuous improvement of global HSE initiatives to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations and industry leading safety practices.
  10. Provides and maintains accurate statistical data, reports and analysis of injury trends to operations in support of divisional accident reduction goals.
  11. Assist with maintenance of HSE documents and ensure timely and accurate HSE record keeping.
  12. Ensures that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  13. Employee responsibilities for Health, Safety and Environment include:
    1. Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures.
    2. Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tag out methods.
    3. Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts.
    4. Report defect in any equipment or protective device.
    5. Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks.
    6. Attend all required health, safety and environmental training.
    7. Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor.
    8. Assist in investigating accidents/incidents.
    9. Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct.

QUALIFICATIONS


Education:
Post secondary degree or diploma in a health and safety related discipline. Professional HSE designation preferred but not required.

Experience and Skills:
  1. Minimum six years of hands on health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
  2. Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
  3. Strong understanding of HSE regulatory framework in USA and Canada and global experience preferred.
  4. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  5. Ability to work independently and manage multiple demands under tight timelines.
