Job Description:

On-call Healthcare Security Guards work at various health facilities across the province. They receive premium wages, travel incentives, extensive training, benefits, opportunities for advancement, and more. The role involves working various shifts and traveling as needed.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor patient safety reports and changes to Protective Services and/or Clinical staff
  • Report incidents according to site regulations
  • Respond to alarms and emergency calls
  • Follow safety codes, regulations, and procedures
  • Handle confidential information discreetly
  • Use two-way radios and computer applications to communicate
  • Screen visitors and clients professionally
  • De-escalate high-stress situations and maintain order
  • Ensure safety of patients, staff, and visitors using de-escalation and physical intervention if necessary
  • Log and report incidents accurately
  • Maintain detailed logs of patient interactions
Job Requirements:
  • Availability for various shifts, including overnight and weekends
  • Ability to travel within a 200 km radius of home to rural sites
  • Ability to obtain Alberta Security License
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and own vehicle
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism
  • Ability to write reports and maintain logs
  • Decisiveness and composure in emergencies
  • Discretion handling private information
  • Ability to walk 18-20 km and climb stairs
