A leading agricultural company in Southwestern Ontario is hiring a Plant Operator responsible for operating heavy equipment and ensuring the timely handling of products. The ideal candidate has at least one year of experience, strong teamwork skills, and a commitment to safety. Duties include loading/unloading merchandise, maintaining stockpiles, and performing minor maintenance on equipment. The role may require working weekends and holidays.
Accountable to the Site Supervisor, the Operator works with the site manager and supervisor(s), on a daily basis to ensure timely and accurate processes are followed in the preparation of our products and raw materials.
The Plant Operator makes recommendations to the Site Supervisor (or designate) who makes the final decision.
The Plant Operator is responsible for operating Powered Industrial Truck (PIT), front end loaders or other equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, count merchandise, move around finished pallet goods including loading/unloading trucks and flatbeds, prepares organic mixes using a heavy equipment loader, pushes or relocates piles to ensure segregation of materials. Supplies production with a continuous supply of material. Monitors the stockpiles for excessive heat, turns stockpiles, extinguishes small fires and ensures the proper amount of water is used to prepare the stockpile for production use.
The Plant Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform Order Filler and Checker duties.
The Plant Operator may be required to work on holidays and weekends from time to time.
