Job summary
Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Specialist is responsible for driving a strong safety culture and ensuring the health, safety, and environment compliance of our Alpine Facility (Pemberton, BC). This role acts as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to facility leadership, providing hands-on support, and strategic guidance on a wide range of HSE matters. The HSE Specialist plays a lead role in identifying and assessing potential workplace hazards, investigating incidents, and implementing effective corrective actions to reduce risk. The HSE Specialist will collaborate cross-functionally to deliver impactful safety initiatives from new hire HSE training, to incident investigation, and Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) support. They will facilitate safety inspections, analyze incident trends, manage compliance documentation, and contribute to return-to-work planning in partnership with HR and WorkSafeBC (WSBC).
The role involves working in both office and production environments, including areas with exposure to noise, dust, varying temperatures, and controlled substances. Must be comfortable working in a regulated environment and adhering to strict compliance and safety protocols. The role requires frequent walking, standing, and site inspections within operational areas, which may include climbing stairs. May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed in accordance with site safety protocols.
This is an onsite role. Occasional support or visits may be required on an as needed basis to other sites within Canada.
