Job summary

A healthcare provider in Ontario is seeking a part-time Personal Support Worker to provide direct patient services, including assisting with patient care and maintaining dialysis equipment. This role requires a Personal Support Worker certificate and experience with dialysis patients. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to travel between sites as required. Competitive hourly salary is offered.

Qualifications

  • Registered with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority.
  • Recent experience with chronically ill patients, especially in dialysis.
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work record required.

Job description
Overview

Under the direction / supervision of the clinical team you will perform direct patient services tasks.

Accountabilities
  • Assisting with patient transfer / care patient temperatures weighing and utilizing aseptic techniques
  • Accommodation and support services responsibilities including :
  • Comprehensive cleaning preparation and disinfection of dialysis machines
  • Preparation of dialysis prepackages
  • Waste removal linen and restock of supplies
  • Transporting equipment and supplies with solution and maintenance of a safe environment
Qualifications
  • Registered with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA)
  • Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized Canadian community college
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques
  • Current CPR
  • Recent related experience with chronically ill patients including knowledge of the complex needs of the dialysis patient
  • Must have recent experience in dialysis machine preparation including priming and disinfecting
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexibility to meet unit needs
  • Ability to work well with team members
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Meditech system

  • Excellent attendance punctuality and work record required
  • Ability to travel between and work at all Osler sites as required
Additional Information
  • Hours: Currently days / evenings 8 & 12 hours including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
  • Salary: Minimum: $30.76 per hour; Maximum: $31.38 per hour
