Position Summary
The Hangar Maintenance Labourer under the direction of FBO manager is responsible for performing general building and property maintenance and repairs for JD Aero Technical Inc. The incumbent will be able to complete general carpentry and minor electrical repairs and maintenance work as required. The Building Maintenance Labourer must also perform basic repairs and maintenance on the mechanical operating systems found within JD Aero Technical Inc.
Responsibilities
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities. Including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines and equipment.
- Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance tasks as required.
- Conduct general carpentry functions.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment while performing duties. Maintain an inventory of all equipment, tools, machinery, material and supplies.
- Comply with safety regulations and will be responsible for keeping buildings in clean and orderly condition. Such as sweep / mop floors, refinish resilient floors, cleaning glass and dispose of all rubbish and recyclables.
- Participate in various aspects of building maintenance requirements, including updates and new construction.
- Plan and set priorities for preventative maintenance work orders, maintenance requisitions and scheduled work.
- Determine and maintain adequate supplies for the maintenance department.
- Complete all necessary reports and records related to the department as required.
- Perform daily hangar organization, including cleanup and maintaining the hangar footprint layout in collaboration with Production.
- Perform regular workplace inspections of common areas, building interior / exterior and landscape.
- Notify management of need for repairs.
- Ensure that any required maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner.
- Prepare, paint and decorate interior and exterior surfaces as required.
- Operate grounds-keeping power equipment and maintain external property.
- Finishing carpentry work.
- Troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain various minor electrical components, appliances and equipment in accordance with pertinent codes, the preventative maintenance program and departmental procedures.
- Troubleshoot, install and repair plumbing fixtures, piping and related equipment.
- Perform necessary work to open clogged sewer lines.
- Maintain an adequate supply of hot water at the correct temperature.
- Initiate safety concerns (risk management) and make judgement on the best methods of completing tasks.
- Perform basic maintenance and repairs on the various mechanical operating systems found at JD Aero Technical Inc., including furnace systems, air conditioning systems, etc. Change furnace and air conditioning filters as needed.
- Inspect the premises for burnt out light bulbs- ensure these are replaced immediately. Clean light fixtures.
- Replace broken windows, repair doors, door locks and closets, install / replace window blinds, switches, desks, tables, plugs, equipment, sinks, toilets etc.
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures.
- Maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures and provide general status reports.
- Maintain outside grounds cleaning snow or debris from walkways, front entrance and employee entrance.
- Comply with Occupational Health & Safety standards and practices.
- Provide emergency / unscheduled repairs of equipment such as : structures, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
- Oversee all contracted maintenance work for major repairs.
- Responsible for vandalism clean up and repair within skill level.
- Monitor all fire extinguishers and notify FBO manager of any empty or expired units.
- Setup rooms for meetings, parties or various other activities and clean up afterwards.
- Train new personnel as needed.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervisor.

Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Education
- Education and Requirements
- High school diploma / GED
- Work experience in building maintenance required.
- Building trades’ certificate, or equivalent, considered an asset.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Minimum 1yr experience in the operation and maintenance of buildings.
- Highly motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing.
- Ability to multi task and establish priorities.
- Ability to maintain organization of maintenance schedule and files in a changing environment.
- Ability to perform minor repair work ( caulking, replacing washers, light fixtures etc).

Work Conditions

Working hours
Working hours are mainly 7 : 00 am to 3 : 30 pm, Monday-Friday; extra hours may be required to complete project deadlines.
