Join the newest addition to the WNBA family as we bring professional women’s basketball to Canada! The Toronto Tempo is the WNBA’s 14th franchise and first Canadian team set to tip off in May. Our team is dedicated to fostering a culture of excellence both on and off the court. We are committed to empowering our players, engaging our fans, and making a positive impact in our community. We are seeking a talented and driven Graphic Designer to join our growing creative team, reporting to the Manager, Content Marketing on a contract basis for three months from January to March 2026.

Job Summary

The Graphic Designer will be responsible for designing high-impact creative assets across all brand and content marketing channels, including social media, website, email, merchandise, and in-game visuals. This individual is a visual storyteller with strong technical skills and a keen eye for design consistency. They thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and can translate ideas into compelling visuals that resonate with fans and partners alike. The Graphic Designer helps define the visual identity and storytelling of the Toronto Tempo and ensure that every design touchpoint, from digital content to in-arena graphics, reflects the energy, pride, and purpose of our home team. This role will work closely with the Content and Social teams and the broader Marketing team to bring campaigns to life, from concept to execution, while helping establish and protect the Tempo’s brand identity across all platforms.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Creative Design & Execution
  • Develop visually engaging creative assets and templates for use across the Tempo’s owned channels (social, digital, print, and in-arena) to promote the Tempo brand across all platforms.
  • Design for both campaign-based and always-on content needs, ensuring all creative adheres to Tempo brand guidelines.
  • Assist in producing a wide range of social-first assets, including creative for Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other emerging platforms.
  • Lead certain design projects, including collaborating with ticketing, advertising (digital ads, OOH), in-arena graphics, promotional items, internal communication pieces.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Content Marketing to ideate and execute content that drives fan engagement, storytelling, and community connection.
  • Support content creation for a variety of formats, including still, motion, GIFs, and short-form video assets.
  • Design visual elements for digital marketing campaigns, event collateral, merchandise mock-ups, and partnership activations.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of social-first design and create assets optimized for platform performance (Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Ensure brand consistency and quality across all visual outputs.
Collaboration & Workflow
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, including Brand, Partnerships, and Community, as well as external Agency partners to deliver creative that supports key initiatives.
  • Support the Manager, Content Marketing by organizing, tagging, and uploading assets within the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system to support efficient workflows.
  • Coordinate with external creative partners, photographers, and videographers as needed to produce and adapt content.
  • Support creative briefs from concepting to delivery, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
Innovation & Brand Development
  • Contribute to the evolution of the Tempo’s visual identity, helping to define and document creative standards and templates.
  • Stay ahead of emerging design trends, tools, and technologies, and bring fresh ideas to the table that push the brand forward.
  • Actively research and share references and inspiration that help shape the Tempo’s creative expression.
  • Assist in the creation of branded templates and toolkits for internal and partner use.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional design experience, ideally within sports, entertainment, media, or lifestyle brands.
  • Expert in Adobe CC; Photoshop, Illustrator, & Acrobat.
  • Proficiency with motion graphics and animation (either in Photoshop, After Effects, or Final Cut Pro) is helpful.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, layout, and digital optimization.
  • Experience designing for multiple platforms and formats, including social, print, and motion graphics.
  • Familiarity with photography, video editing, or motion design considered an asset.
  • Passion for basketball, women’s sports, or community-driven storytelling is a plus.
  • Must be able to work on a full-time basis for a three-month contract period from January to March 2026.
