Salary Range: The full salary range for this position is $84,200 to $140,300 annually. The target range is $100,000 to $123,000 annually. Salary decisions are generally based on factors such as internal equity, candidate experience and leadership, degrees, and sometimes the candidate's work location.

Job Objective: As an asset manager, you will oversee 2 to 4 renewable energy projects focusing on financial and operational performance. Your daily tasks will include contract review, resolving business issues, and ensuring compliance to maximize asset value and meet annual KPIs. You will work with internal and external SMEs and communicate with project investors to mitigate risks and seize opportunities. You will also promote a safety culture through observations and team engagements, adhering to health, safety, environment, and sustainability standards, and complying with all internal controls, codes of ethics, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Acumen: Manage GAAP and IFRS EBITDA for each assigned asset, including developing and monitoring annual budgets, cash flow analysis, and compliance with financial tools like guarantees and letters of credit. Adhere to governance protocols such as RCSRs and DCSRs to ensure timely project invoice payments.
  • Performance Management: Closely monitor operational and financial performance, striving to exceed annual performance targets for optimal returns. Collaborate with internal and external SMEs to identify and mitigate financial, business, and operational risks, understanding energy markets and monetization methods such as PPAs, hedging, organized markets, capacity payments, bilateral agreements, RECs, FTRs, and CRRs. Work closely with portfolio management teams to meet IRR objectives over the project lifecycle.
  • Contract and Regulatory Management: Understand contractual vocabulary and identify legal support needs (LLCA, ECCA, PPA, IA) to reduce risks and ensure contractual compliance. Be familiar with applicable local, provincial, regional, and federal laws such as FERC, NERC, ISO, EPA, and others, ensuring all regulatory obligations are met within deadlines.
  • Technical and Operational Knowledge: Possess fundamental technical knowledge of energy resource operations, network principles, interconnection systems, and renewable asset integration. Collaborate with experts to resolve technical issues and make informed business decisions. Focus on operational and preventive maintenance practices to optimize asset availability and identify underperformance sources without compromising safety.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to optimize project performance and ensure compliance. Develop negotiation skills to resolve conflicts, meet contractual obligations, and enhance investor returns.
  • Other Assigned Tasks: Support organizational initiatives to ensure departmental and company success, participating in improvement activities.

Work Conditions: 80% of the time in an office environment using computers and office equipment, and 20% visiting project sites and attending conferences and meetings.

Fiscal Responsibility: Annual EBITDA per project, operational KPIs, and safety measures.

Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree with 4-6 years of relevant professional experience preferred, or equivalent education and experience. Advanced degrees (Master's or MBA) or certifications (Asset Management Certification, PMP, Lean Six Sigma) are assets.
  • Experience with contract structures and project management in renewable energy.
  • Experience in operations, asset management, project management, or energy markets is desirable.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving market conditions and resolve complex operational issues.
  • Understanding of regional ISOs, RTOs, and bilateral markets.

Physical Requirements: Primarily office-based with occasional site visits across Canada to wind farms, solar parks, and battery storage sites. Outside the office, may involve climbing, lifting, bending, and occasionally lifting loads of 25-35 pounds.
