Job summary

A leading payroll software company in Calgary is seeking a Fraud Analyst to play a crucial role in investigating financial crime risks. You will monitor new client signups, investigate ongoing activities, and ensure compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of customer-facing experience, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, remote environment. This is a contract position lasting 3 months, offering a competitive salary range of CA$45,000.00 to CA$52,000.00 annually.

The Role at High Level

We’re looking for a talented Fraud Analyst who doesn’t shy away from tackling financial crime risks and protecting our clients and company from fraud. As a first line of defense, you'll investigate new client signups, monitor ongoing activity, and make thoughtful, risk‑aware decisions. You will report directly to the Manager, Risk Operations.

NOTE: This is a 3 month position from January 2026 – March 2026

What You'll Be Expected To Own
  • Perform Know-Your-Business (KYB) controls and apply best practices to mitigate risks during onboarding and ongoing reviews.
  • Conduct risk assessments on new signups to evaluate fraud, credit, and reputational risk.
  • Audit payroll alerts, reviewing them for potential fraud, and ensure timely resolution.
  • Support clients by resolving risk-related issues and guiding them through account setup challenges.
  • Monitor for anti-money laundering activities and assist with FINTRAC compliance.
  • Serve as a liaison with other departments, offering risk insights and best practice recommendations.
  • Collaborate with sales and onboarding teams to ensure safe client onboarding.
  • Recommend improvements to risk detection processes based on trends and learnings.
What You Bring To The Table
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a customer-facing role with strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote, fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong decision‑making and analytical thinking abilities.
Bonus points if
  • You have experience in the payroll, fintech, or banking industries.
  • You’re familiar with FINTRAC regulations and ACH transaction compliance.
  • You know your way around KYB/KYC, open-source investigation techniques, and risk scoring tools.
