The Opportunity

As a key member of the Wajax team, the Shop Foreman addresses customer inquiries and requests for repairs, resolving any issues as required. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that employees perform their duties and complete tasks to standard, in accordance with Safe Work Procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach, mentor, schedule, monitor attendance, resolve conflicts, and support learning and development for a team of employees.
  • Oversee daily shop operations and maintain a steady workflow.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date time cards that reflect employee work and tasks.
  • Assist technicians with troubleshooting and answer questions.
  • Organize and schedule labor in the workshop or field.
  • Train apprentices in proper work procedures.
  • Verify quality of completed projects by technicians.
  • Create repair quotes.
  • Research warranties to determine manufacturer responsibility.
  • Ensure completion of Pre-Delivery Inspections.
  • Foster a safety-focused workplace culture with effective leadership.
  • Promote health and safety awareness through instruction, information, training, and supervision.
  • Ensure technicians wear and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.

Qualifications

  • 3-4 years of relevant leadership experience.
  • Trade certification or Journeyman Red Seal with experience in On/Off Highway, Heavy Equipment, or Material Handling.
  • Experience with Detroit / Allison systems, computers, and diagnostic software is valuable.
