About the Opportunity
- Lead the month-end and quarter-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and general ledger management.
- Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, as well as US foreign subsidiary accounting and compliance requirements.
- Prepare timely and accurate interim and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable standards.
- Assist in preparation of the annual budget and forecast in collaboration with the CFO
- Manage the budget throughout the year and review variances
- Coordinate the annual audit process and support the preparation of Canadian and U.S. tax returns with external auditors and accountants.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian tax reporting obligations and maintain awareness of relevant U.S. Federal and State requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal financial controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Drive process improvements, automation, and efficiency within the accounting department.
- Manage reporting of capital assets
- Provide accurate and insightful financial reports to management to support decision-making.
- Partner with Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Logistics to support inventory counts, valuation, capital planning, and financial analysis.
About You
- CPA designation required.
- 5- 10 years progressive financial and accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, direct and indirect tax compliance.
- Exposure to U.S. GAAP and U.S. Federal/State tax compliance considered a strong asset.
- Experience with transfer pricing between Canadian and US operations considered an asset
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Business Central preferred
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI an asset.
- Strong decision making, problem-solving and communication skills
- High level of professional judgement, discretion and attention to detail
Salary Range
$125,000 - $135,000/year
