A local government authority in Canada is seeking an Environmental Technician I for a 1-year term. This role involves performing environmental protection duties at the Glenmore Landfill, including inspecting and monitoring equipment, managing organics, and data collection for compliance. The candidate should have a Diploma in Environmental Sciences, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and a BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence. This position is physically demanding and focuses on reducing environmental emissions while working collaboratively.
We are looking for an Environmental Technician I for a 1‑year term to perform environmental protection duties at the Glenmore Landfill. You will be responsible for the inspection, operation, and monitoring of landfill and composting equipment, and the collection and interpretation of data for regulatory compliance. The position primarily focuses on organics management, compost production, and assisting with the landfill gas system. You will work collaboratively to reduce environmental emissions, troubleshoot equipment, and assist in the installation of materials to improve operations from an environmental perspective.
The successful candidate will have completed a Diploma in Environmental Sciences or a related field. You should have excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills. A BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence is required.
Heavy lifting may be required.
$38.80 per hour plus 14% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays, and benefits.
