Job summary

A leading mining company is seeking an Electrical Technician for the Detour Lake Mine in Ontario. Responsibilities include maintaining high-voltage equipment and ensuring a safe work environment. Candidates should have an Electro-Dynamic/Industrial Technician Certificate and ideally two years of experience. The position offers a 14/14 work schedule with accommodations provided onsite. We prioritize hiring from local First Nations and the Métis Nation of Ontario.

Job description

Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Electrical Supervisor, you will be part of the Mobile Maintenance Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Responsibilities
  • Understanding of motor control logic and MCC (600V), DC motor control (static drive) and AC drive
  • Basic instrumentation troubleshooting (temperature sensor, pressure sensor and tachometer)
  • Understanding of PLC logic and providing troubleshooting activities as required
  • Maintain equipment rated for 24 volt to 13.8KV
  • Use of various tools such as voltmeter, megger and ampere meter
  • Ensure that safety issues are reported to the supervisor and promptly remedied
  • Promote a positive health, safety and environment culture and the Internal Responsibility System
Qualifications
  • Electro-Dynamic/Industrial Technician Certificate
  • Minimum of two years practical work experience is preferred
  • High voltage transformer and switchgear experience is preferred
  • Ability to work and be exposed to the elements (working at heights, outdoor working environment)
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint

  • Schedule: 14/14 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada
