Lac La Biche County is seeking a skilled and motivated Engineering Technologist to support the planning, design, construction, and inspection of municipal infrastructure projects. Reporting to the General Manager, Infrastructure, this role provides professional technical expertise while ensuring quality, compliance, and timely service delivery in a public‑sector environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering and technical support for infrastructure projects, including construction supervision, surveying, cost analysis, CAD drafting/design, and civil engineering calculations.
  • Conduct and participate in construction, permit, and compliance inspections; support CCC and FAC completions.
  • Review engineering compliance and recommend stop‑work orders when required.
  • Assist in resolving construction and site‑related issues and coordinate project and construction meetings.
  • Support annual work planning and budgeting; monitor expenditures and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Provide technical advice to staff and participate on interdepartmental teams, committees, and working groups.
  • Maintain excellent customer service with staff, Council, contractors, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Promote and comply with Occupational Health & Safety, FOIP, and Records Management policies.
  • Assume Emergency Management duties as assigned and perform other related duties.
Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field (degree preferred).
  • 3–5 years of related experience, preferably in a municipal or public‑sector environment.
  • Strong knowledge of municipal design and construction standards and GMSS.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in engineering‑related software and computer applications.
  • PMP and Alberta Transportation Bridge Inspection Certification are considered assets.
Position Details
  • 2080 hours annually (40 hour work week).
  • Additional hours may be required on weekends for special projects, meetings or emergency work. The position works in inside and outside conditions (construction sites).
