Job description
Overview

Megaport is the global leader in Network as a Service (NaaS), helping businesses connect to the cloud, data centers, and each other. We’re publicly listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and partnered with industry leaders. Headquartered in Brisbane with a team across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas, our culture is collaborative, supportive, and fun.

Our Team Culture: We’re problem solvers, pixel pushers, code slingers, and cloud fans. Collaboration, curiosity, and values matter; we place customers at the center of everything we do.

The Role

You’re an experienced Engineering Manager who loves building software. In this role you’ll lead a team of talented engineers working on our Network as a Service platform. You’ll guide the development of new features and products, as well as maintaining and improving existing systems. You’re detail-oriented, care deeply about product, and excel at coaching developers to think like product owners, ensuring their work aligns with user and business needs.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and accountability.
  • Drive the technical vision in alignment with product goals, collaborating closely with other engineering and product teams.
  • Support the career growth of engineers by providing regular feedback, coaching, and development opportunities.
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement to identify, develop, and implement process changes to increase efficiency.
  • Help the team proactively pay down tech debt by allocating time and resources to refactor and optimise existing systems to ensure long-term stability and scalability.
  • Evaluate new technology and provide input on best practices in developing proposals and strategies for software design activities.
  • Grow, develop and retain a high-performing team of engineers and foster a culture of excellence and collaborative teamwork.
  • Coordinate tasks and set team goals with a focus on achieving strategic business objectives.
What We Are Looking For
  • Previous experience as a hands-on software engineer with solid technical expertise.
  • Proven track record in managing and scaling teams of software engineers, preferably in a product-driven environment.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to distribute workload effectively.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead, support, and mentor team members.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to align cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience leading and developing a technical team with the ability to work in a transparent and collaborative manner.
What We Offer
  • Flexible working environment – a remote-first culture with coworking options available
  • Generous leave plans – including 4 weeks of paid annual leave, parental leave, birthday leave, and a purchased annual leave program
  • Health and wellness support – through a wellness allowance and employee wellbeing initiatives
  • Comprehensive learning support – generous study and training allowance plus paid study leave
  • Creative, modern workspaces – designed to inspire when you're not working remotely
  • Motivated, inclusive team – work alongside industry experts and fresh talent
  • Recognition programs – celebrate achievements with our Legend and Kudos awards
  • For U.S. employees – access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus a 401(k) plan
