Qualifications

  • 2 years fulltime outpatient/community mental health experience or recent psychiatric inpatient experience.

  • Knowledge of DSM-V and Mental Health act required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in nursing assessments and interventions.
  • Act as an advocate for patients, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Facilitate patient education and discharge planning.

Excellent assessment and organizational skills
Expert application of complex mental health assessment tools
Knowledge of psychiatric illness
Understanding of psychotropic medications

Education

Graduate of a Registered Nurse program
Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta
