Backed by Gryphon Investors, Shermco Canada is seeking an Electrical Power Systems Engineer (P.Eng.).

Note: Remote work may be considered.

Working under the supervision of the Engineering Manager in Saskatchewan, the Electrical Power Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving electrical instruments, facilities, and components for our clients. The candidate will report to our Saskatoon or Regina office.

Job Responsibilities :

  1. Provide leadership for the growth and development of junior engineering staff.
  2. Manage, plan, and execute various electrical projects across different clients and industries.
  3. Perform electrical analysis and design in industrial and utility sectors.
  4. Design and integrate protective relaying (SEL, GE, Siemens, Schneider, etc.).
  5. Automate industrial/utility substations (SEL RTAC, RTU, HMI, Communications, etc.).
  6. Conduct electrical studies including short-circuit, device coordination, arc-flash, load flow, grounding, and harmonic studies.
  7. Create, modify, review, and approve electrical drawings: single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and general arrangements.
  8. Design and modify electrical distribution systems: MCCs, switchgear, transformers, protective devices, etc.
  9. Troubleshoot electrical system issues and develop practical solutions.
  10. Support field services for maintenance and commissioning activities.
  11. Conduct onsite inspections and data collection.
  12. Prepare engineering estimates and proposals for sales opportunities.

Qualifications :

  • Four-year Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized institution.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation from a Canadian licensing body.
  • At least 5 years of power systems engineering experience, including design and fieldwork.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with EasyPower, SKM, ETAP is an asset.
  • Understanding microprocessor-based relays is an asset.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Valid driver’s license for travel and fieldwork.
