Electrical Design Engineers (Control System Hardware Dept.)

Job Description:

  • Work with Mechanical Designers during the mechanical design process to design a control system that will enable the machine to perform its intended function safely and reliably.
  • Formulate and produce complete electrical design package, which includes detailed electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bill of materials and material requisition, based on ATS standard specification and customer’s requirements.
  • Work with other members of the control engineering department and other groups to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology, with goals of enhanced safety, enhanced functionality and reduced cost.
  • Work with other members of the controls engineering department and other groups to ensure that labor budgets and material budgets are adhered to or improved upon.
  • Specify all electrical and controls related hardware and software and produce requisition for material purchase.
  • Integrate the third‑party equipment and electronic component entry into the electrical design package. Examples include serial and network communications, hardware handshaking, opto‑isolation, electrical and ultrasonic welding, application vision systems, motion control products, transducers and signal conditioners.
  • Verify that the electrical design package is complete, accurate and safe based on sound design practices and accepted standards, and that the I/O drawings meet program requirements prior to issue to the shop floor.
  • Work with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers and electricians to solve problems in order to provide them with a complete, functional system.
  • Work with the other members of the controls engineering department and other groups to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology.
  • Provide customers with training specific to their current project (i.e., hardware, machine operation, programming principles, program functionality and program structure).

Compensation: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
