A major educational institution in Ontario seeks an Educational Assistant to support students with exceptional needs. This part-time role involves academic support, implementing special programs, and collaboration with teaching staff. Candidates should possess a relevant diploma and have experience with special needs children. Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum is beneficial. This position offers a salary of $29.54 to $36.70 per hour.

Educational Assistant
50% Regular (10 month work year)
Salary: 29.54 to 36.70 per hour
Under the direction of the Principal the Educational Assistant is an integral member of the school team and is responsible for the provision of support to students with exceptional needs within the school. The position involves dealing with confidential information and requires ongoing flexibility and variability. Responsibilities are varied in collaboration with teaching and other professional staff and include:
Educational Assistants may be required to modify programs and support learning for students with learning disabilities and speech / language issues. Assignments may also include outside yard duties, lifting, toileting and / or pool duties. Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and educational communication software such as Dragon and Kurzweil are assets.
The successful candidate will possess a community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care / Worker or equivalent and a minimum of 1-2 years of related experience with school aged special needs children. Equivalent programs must be assessed by People Culture and Leadership staff. Valid First Aid certification / CPR Level C is required. The successful candidate will have also completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (TCI) and / or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training.
