Job summary

A leading transportation service provider in Ontario is seeking a Transport Driver to operate various vehicles at the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre in Meaford. The ideal candidate should possess a valid CZ-Class Driver License, a clean driving record, and have at least 2 years of experience operating CZ vehicles and heavy equipment. This role supports military training through the safe operation of assigned equipment. Successful candidates must also achieve and maintain a Government of Canada Security Clearance.

Qualifications

• Proficient knowledge and understanding of maintenance and safety procedures related to hand tools and powered equipment.
• Ability to achieve and maintain a Government of Canada Security Clearance.
• Continuous residency in Canada for the last 10 years is mandatory.

The Transport Driver is located in Meaford at the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre and typically reports directly to the Transport Supervisor. Their primary focus is to perform the duties of Driver – operating various vehicles on base and throughout Ontario. They support military training through the safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• The safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment
• Maintain a clean and serviceable fleet; washing, greasing etc.
• Promptly and accurately completing all forms relevant to their duties
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment; Transport shop floor etc.
• Displaying good customer service skills at all times.
• Carrying on their person at all times, a valid civilian permit and DND driver permit, stipulating the equipment they are qualified and authorized to operate;
• Complies with organizational policies and procedures
• Performs other tasks as assigned by the dispatcher and the Transportation Manager
• Perform other assigned tasks, as required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma

The following certifications/designations are considered an asset.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Valid CZ-Class Driver License
• Clean driving record
• 2 years’ experience operating CZ vehicles
• 2 years’ experience operating heavy equipment

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Proficient knowledge and understanding of:

• Know the correct use, maintenance and safety procedures of the hand tools and powered equipment related to this type of work while applying that knowledge
• Organization and time management
• Excellent oral and written communications skills (English)
• Must be able to achieve and maintain a Government of Canada Security Clearance

Due to many mandatory vaccination requirements at client projects / facilities, in order to provide substantial employment by ensuring compliance with our clients’ mandates, the successful candidate may be required to validate full vaccination prior to hire.

Must be able to achieve and maintain a Government of Canada Security Clearance- continuous residency in Canada for the last 10 years is a mandatory requirement.
