About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Donor Centre Supervisor to join our dynamic Collections Operations East team in Saint John, New Brunswick.

The Collections Operations East team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by managing the planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of assigned Centres and for controlling all collection activities and resources at those Centres.

In this role, you will manage all Donor Centre staff and volunteers involved in permanent Centre events, attend and support Donor Centre events and mobile events for New Brunswick, and have full accountability for a group of assigned direct reports.

  • Utilizing your excellent customer service skills, you will ensure optimal clinic flow, a high level of service, and compliance with Canadian Blood Services policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety.
  • Leveraging your superb leadership skills, you will ensure staff performs duties in an effective, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Utilizing your superior interpersonal and communication skills, you will interview, hire, and complete all aspects of performance management, including progressive discipline as required.
  • Drawing on your knowledge and experience, you will ensure each Centre is planned, organized, and managed to provide safe, efficient, and cost-effective blood collection.
  • With your ability to work effectively, you will ensure the needs of the donor, volunteer, and the public are met.
  • Utilizing your proven success in leading a collaborative team, you will provide timely communication to staff, prompt follow-up for donor and staff concerns, and respond to on-site media inquiries.
Desired education and skills
  • Successful completion of post-secondary level education in a relevant health sciences discipline from a recognized academic institution.
  • Proven leadership ability is essential, and a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • You will have sound knowledge and previous experience in blood collection, regulatory, and continuous quality improvement environments.
  • Experience in platelet apheresis and autologous programs would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written in English, are essential. French language skills are an asset.
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative.
  • Possess a leadership skillset to build teams and have a passion for achieving results and a commitment to customer service excellence.
