Job description
Role

Reporting to the VP of Western Canada, the Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing and enhancing all operational aspects of Rising Edge Group’s projects and services. This role focuses on streamlining processes, improving efficiency, and driving operational excellence across the organization. The Director will work closely with various departments to ensure that organizational goals are met, projects are delivered on time and on budget, and optimized use of resources is achieved. Collaborating with Executive leadership, project teams, and stakeholders, this role will ensure alignment between corporate objectives and operational priorities to drive effective team performance.

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Manage operational teams across Western Canada including commissioning, construction, equipment, building fabrication and panel shop.
  • Oversee the performance and management of the operational team, ensuring alignment with business goals and effective resource utilization.
  • Lead efforts to identify and mitigate operational risks across projects.
  • Foster a culture of safety and operational excellence through effective leadership and communications, ensuring adherence to industry regulations and best practices.
  • Conduct regular operational reviews and audits to assess efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Promote innovation by implementing best practices and identifying areas for automation and improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure program success.

Operational Oversight

  • Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to support organizational objectives.
  • Work closely with project managers to establish operational plans and budgets, ensuring compliance with financial guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Estimating, PMO, Project Services, Safety, Quality Assurance, Engineering and Fleet to ensure project goals are achieved.
  • Participate in project estimate reviews and supporting with estimating deliverables as required.
  • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the long-term growth and sustainability of the organization.
  • Identify fleet and equipment upgrade and replacement requirements and provide recommendations to Executive leadership.

Reporting

  • Monitor project performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Identifying project and staffing requirements. Setting clear expectations of project team members to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Monitoring and maintaining labour and equipment utilization as well as reporting to senior management.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management, ideally in the construction or renewable energy sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is considered a strong asset.
  • Proven track record of driving operational improvements and managing successful projects.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and mentoring abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and best practices.
  • Proficiency in using operation management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel as required to oversee operations and meet with stakeholders.
