Annual salary range of $101,628 - $131,517.

The Director of Fire and Emergency Services (Fire Chief) is a people‑centred leader who is dedicated to the safety and wellbeing of others. This is a hands‑on position at the heart of a thriving wilderness community, one that calls for skill, sound judgement and the ability to balance competing priorities. As our Fire Chief, you bring the technical expertise related to fire, rescue, and emergency management. You also have the people skills to build effective working relationships with staff, contractors, community and business groups, and the public. Minimum Requirements (but are not limited to)
  • Completion of post‑secondary education in Fire Service Management, local government, public administration, or emergency service management
  • Clean criminal record
  • NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level 2, NFPA 1002 Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator, NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level 3, NFPA 1031 Level 1 Fire Inspector, NFPA 1033 Level 1 Fire Investigator, and NFPA 1041 Level 1 Fire Service Instructor
  • Wildland Firefighting, IC S 400
  • Medical First Responder licence
  • Valid Class 3 BC driver’s licence with air endorsement
Key Job Duties (but are not limited to)
  • Oversee administration and response/operations of fire suppression, fire prevention, public education, medical first response and highway road rescue services
  • Develop and implement practices and procedures to ensure effective and efficient operation of the Department
  • Oversee activities related to enforcement and compliance of municipal bylaws
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders/agencies to ensure information is coordinated and distributed effectively
  • Ensure all records are maintained for incidents and other departmental data as required
  • Other duties as required
