Story Behind the Need

Business group: Employee Digital Experience – Delivery team and support for employee technology within the bank. End user and field support. Access provision and delivery of Microsoft products. Program: Unstructured Data – Shared Drives Program. The main function of a Data Architect is to establish system information requirements through analysis in the development of data-wide or large-scale information systems.

Join our team to support a multi-phase audit remediation program focused on access management and governance of unstructured data repositories (NetApp Shared Drives and SharePoint).

  • You will be responsible for technical assessment, inventory, access mapping, ownership documentation, and supporting compliance deliverables.
Typical Day in Role
  • Assess and document NetApp and SharePoint environments, including inventory of folders, sites, and data repositories
  • Map and analyze access controls, permissions, and AD group memberships
  • Identify and document data ownership and stewardship at folder/site/share level
  • Support quarterly access reviews and recertification processes
  • Generate technical reports and evidence for audit closure and compliance
  • Collaborate with PM, compliance, and business stakeholders to implement governance frameworks
  • Assist with migration planning and execution (NetApp to SharePoint)
  • Leverage tools such as BigID, SailPoint, Microsoft Purview for data discovery, classification, and reporting
  • Contribute to training and awareness campaigns for secure file management practices
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills
  • 9 years of experience in technical documentation and reporting
  • 5-8 years of combined experience with storage technologies, including NetApp (CIFS/NFS), SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Active Directory group management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in audit controls, system development, and the implementation of policies and procedures, and retention policies
Nice-To-Have Skills
  • Spanish is an asset
  • Experience with IAM tools (SailPoint, BigID, Microsoft Purview) is an asset
  • Experience in financial services or regulated environments
  • Knowledge of risk-based remediation and migration strategies
  • Certifications in information security, data governance, or Microsoft technologies
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance (OSFI, PIPEDA, GDPR, SOX, Basel III)

Education

  • The best candidate will have a proven track record in requirements gathering, solution design, and RFP development across multiple organizations, particularly in regulated environments. The best candidate will bring hands-on expertise in data migration projects, with deep familiarity in tools and platforms such as NETAPP (for legacy storage architecture) SharePoint mainly, and SailPoint (for identity and access management), and Microsoft Purview (for data classification and governance).
  • The role demands someone who can engage confidently with senior stakeholders, navigate complex governance landscapes, and think creatively to propose scalable, forward-looking storage solutions. Their ability to synthesize technical insights with business priorities will be critical in driving adoption and ensuring alignment with compliance and audit objectives.
