EMPLOYMENT TYPE

Type of Position: Full-Time 4 Month Role (May-Aug)

Anticipated Start Date: May 1, 2026

Hours of Work: Canada Basketball’s regular hours of work are 40 hours per week, namely Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day and 5 days a week. However, the demands of your position may require your hours of work to vary to meet the objectives of your employment. Responsibilities to be performed on-site in the Canada Basketball office.

OVERVIEW

Canada Basketball is the national governing body for amateur basketball in Canada. Located in Toronto, Canada Basketball is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is “We aspire to excellence in leading the growth and development of the game at home, and in pursuing medal performances on the international stage”.

The successful candidate’s primary mandate is to work with the Canada Basketball Business Operations & Events Department to assist, coordinate, implement, and execute programming and logistical details within Canada Basketball’s business.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

  • Support domestic events from planning through execution, including set-up, on-site operations, and tear-down.
  • Support warehouse operations through post-event inventory and organization of event materials.
  • Assist with production schedules and the procurement of equipment and services.
  • Attend organizing committee meetings, providing updates and contributing to overall event planning.
  • Support event logistics through coordination of volunteers, accreditation, and ticketing with Local Organizing Committees for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 – Americas Qualifier games (in July & August 2026).
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine volunteer requirements for events and update or revise role descriptions, as needed.
  • Work in cooperation with Local Organizing Committees to ensure completion of all volunteer requirements, including background checks, safe sport, and any additional training modules.
  • Develop and distribute a volunteer feedback survey and prepare a final volunteer program report for submission to the Senior Manager, Events & Competitions.
  • Manage the accreditation portal, entering all required personnel and coordinating with FIBA and various event stakeholders to collect names and photos.
  • Source and coordinate vendors for accreditation printing, in cooperation with Local Organizing Committees.
  • Coordinate internal ticketing needs with Local Organizing Committees.
  • Provide operational and logistical support for W’Hoop It Up (July 2026) including, but not limited to, material shipping, visiting team coordination, and working with Local Organizing Committee on accommodations and transportation requirements for applications/requests for proposal.
  • Provide support to additional events and internal departments as they are confirmed and needed
  • Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Event Management, Sport Administration, Hospitality, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in an event coordinator role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional, positive and collaborative approach when engaging with team members, partners, and the public.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Canva.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Travel will be required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required; access to a vehicle is considered an asset.
