Job summary

Job Overview

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Construction Coordinator.

Reporting to the Manager, Construction (or Project Manager), this position is responsible for managing various phases of maintenance, modification, and rehabilitation work within OPG. The Construction Coordinator will oversee a multidiscipline workforce, plan and schedule work, control resources, and ensure all tasks are executed safely, on time, and within budget, in compliance with quality standards, corporate guidelines, and government regulations.

Key Accountabilities
  • Coordinate the work of contractors and consultants to ensure quality of work performed, adherence to work schedule, and conformance with standards, policies, legal requirements, codes, health & safety policies, regulations, and specifications.
  • Act as the interface for work control, identifying and scheduling work that requires the participation of staff outside the unit.
  • Coordinate a multi-functional workforce, including various trade groups (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical), in the execution of project activities.
  • Plan, schedule, estimate, organize, and control resources for both planned and forced outage circumstances to meet project timelines and cost objectives.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to team members and contractors regarding work methods, safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support the Project Lead in managing project site budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring effective cost control.
  • Assist with contract administration, including daily field oversight of contractors, monitoring safety, quality, schedule, and cost compliance.
  • Monitor and validate project progress, address variances, and liaise with stakeholders (including plant/station staff, contractors, and regulatory agencies) to coordinate work and resolve issues.
  • Ability to provide work direction and field oversight of Contract Monitors.
Qualifications
  • Grade XII plus 3 years further concentrated study from a community college, or equivalent level of education through a recognized skilled trade apprenticeship program.
  • Over 4 years and up to 6 years of experience in construction, modification, and maintenance of an electrical generation station.
  • Experience managing multi-union represented workforces.
  • Strong project management and contract administration skills.
  • Experience supervising staff and ensuring compliance with safety, schedule, and cost objectives.
  • Detailed technical knowledge of contracts, specifications, building codes, inspections, and construction management, especially in nuclear generation facilities.
