We are currently seeking a Commercial Analyst to join our team.
The Commercial Analyst is a trainee role for future commercial sales / lending roles. Incumbents in this role do not have an option to remain long-term. Typically, an incumbent will spend approximately two (2) years in this role, after which they will move into an available commercial sales / lending role once the required skills and experience are achieved.
Responsibilities include:
- Provides administrative and analytical support to the commercial sales team.
- Performs tasks supporting the underwriting process for new credit applications.
- Conducts annual reviews on commercial accounts.
- Analyzes financial statements and industry data.
- Deals directly with commercial members once sufficient skill and experience are gained.
Typical daily activities include:
- Financial Analysis: Completes analysis of financial statements, researches industry reports, and analyzes market data related to credit applications.
- Loan Review / Security: Reviews credit offers and security information for completeness and accuracy; reviews delinquency reports and coordinates with credit services for resolution.
- Loans Origination Process: Completes paperwork for credit applications, ensures documentation accuracy, and manages loan disbursement processes.
- Risk Management: Conducts annual reviews of accounts and ensures compliance with terms and conditions, including site visits when necessary.
- Sales and Service: Identifies cross-selling opportunities, addresses member concerns, maintains relationships within the branch and community, and participates in community initiatives and campaigns.
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- College, Trade, or Tech School Diploma (2 years) in a related field is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline is preferred.
- At least 2 years of sales and financial analysis experience or equivalent.
- Knowledge of lending policies, procedures, products, and services is preferred.
- Familiarity with legislation affecting commercial credit is preferred.
- Strong skills in financial statement analysis and credit risk management.
- Ability to manage change and pursue continuous improvement.
- Strong work ethic and resourcefulness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Understanding of risk management and adherence to policies and procedures.
