What will your typical day look like?

We’re seeking a Cloud Resiliency Architect to design, implement, and continuously improve resiliency strategies across our cloud estate. You will lead the architecture for high availability, disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity—ensuring our critical workloads withstand failures, cyber incidents, regional outages, and rapid demand shifts. This role partners closely with Platform Engineering, Products and Solutions, Security, and SRE/Operations stakeholders to meet stringent RTO/RPO targets.

Responsibilities

• Resilient Architecture Design – Architect HA/FT patterns for distributed systems across Azure/AWS/GCP and hybrid environments (active‑active, active‑passive, zone/region failover, multi‑cloud strategies).

• Business Continuity & DR – Define, implement, and maintain DR plans (runbooks, recovery tiers, data protection, replication strategies), aligned to business impact analysis, RTO/RPO, and compliance requirements.

• Failure Mode & Risk Analysis – Perform dependency mapping, blast‑radius reduction, chaos testing, and threat modeling to identify and mitigate single points of failure.

• Automation & Orchestration – Build automated failover and recovery pipelines using IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation/Bicep), CI/CD, and cloud‑native services (Route 53/Azure Traffic Manager/Cloud DNS; ASGs/VMSS; Kubernetes operators).

• Resiliency Testing – Lead regular DR exercises, game days, and tabletop scenarios; measure outcomes and drive corrective actions.

• Observability & SLAs – Establish resiliency KPIs (e.g., MTTR, error budgets), implement health checks, synthetic probes, and automated remediation with runbooks.

• Governance & Compliance – Ensure adherence to regulatory and industry frameworks (ISO 22301/27001, NIST SP 800‑34/53, SOC 2) and internal risk policies.

• Cross‑Functional Leadership – Advise product teams on resilient microservices patterns (circuit breakers, backoff/retry, bulkheads, idempotency); coach engineers and advocate best practices.
