Job description

This position is responsible for contributing to the coordinated efforts of preparing and presenting a high-quality shopping experience to all Farm Boy customers. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all customers, employees, and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy Way.

Major Responsibilities:

• Provide superior customer service and support Farm Boy's vision of the best fresh shopping experience.
• Handle all customer questions or comments confidently with a passion for food.
• Process customer purchases using Farm Boy Service Standards, collect accurate tenders, and bag purchased items.
• May be required to handle or sell alcohol.
• Learn product codes and apply them accurately when processing customer orders.
• Balance all tenders received.
• Answer and direct incoming phone calls as necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of work, storage, and store front areas, including cart retrieval.
• Comply with all corporate policies, especially regarding Health and Safety, Food Safety, and equipment use.
• Perform other related duties as required periodically.

Qualifications:

• Superior customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• If handling alcohol, must be at least 18 years old and have completed Smart Serve or be willing to complete it.
• Experience in retail or equivalent education and experience is an asset.
• Strong mathematical skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with high standards for quality and cleanliness.
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral, in a team environment.
• Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Fluency in English; French is an asset.

Work & Sensory Environment:

• Stand for long periods during shifts.
• Perform repetitive and precise hand/finger movements.
• Lift, carry, or handle heavy objects.
• Exposure to temperature changes and extreme temperatures when collecting carts.
