Job description

Bailey Electronics seeks a Buyer/Planner who is a highly organized, detail-oriented team player who will oversee the entire order process. You will review proposals, negotiate prices, select the best suppliers, analyze trends, follow up with placed orders, verify delivery, approve payment, and maintain necessary records.

Responsibilities

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with domestic and international suppliers to secure best pricing, terms, and product specifications.
  • Issue purchase orders and ensure quality and on-time delivery.
  • Manage supplier non-conformance reports (NCRs), working with vendors to resolve quality or performance issues.
  • Monitor and report on supplier KPIs (cost, quality, delivery performance) to drive accountability and improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., REACH, RoHS) and coordinate with suppliers on documentation and approvals.

Planning & Inventory Management

  • Forecast demand, plan material requirements, and release POs consistent with corporate objectives (inventory turns, days on hand, service levels).
  • Publish production schedules for contract manufacturers; prioritize production requirements.
  • Optimize and maintain MRP/min-max planning factors to meet availability targets while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Oversee warehouse coordination, including incoming material receipts, receiving issues, and cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
  • Monitor safety stock levels, investigate variances, and reduce excess and obsolete materials.
  • Track open orders, expedite shipments, and maintain accurate inventory and consigned stock records.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with sales, engineering, quality, and operations teams to solve challenges and keep priorities aligned.
  • Support new projects and engineering changes with aligned supply plans.
  • Share timely updates on supply risks and interruptions with key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance supplier performance, and streamline material planning.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, Statistics or other related discipline or relevant work experience
  • At least 3 years of work-related experience with both US and foreign (Asia based) vendors and suppliers
  • Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience using an ERP computer system to plan and procure materials
  • Working knowledge of MRP – Material Requirements Planning or similar system
  • Preferred - Experience in Handle Control Systems industry
