Job summary

A local training organization in Edmonton is seeking a financial assistant to work closely with the CFO. Responsibilities include maintaining financial accountability, assisting clients with reporting, and ensuring documentation is handled correctly. The ideal candidate has a degree in Accounting or Finance and at least three years of relevant experience. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and accounting software is required. This is a full-time position, structured at 37.5 hours per week.

This job is classified as full-time (37.5 hours/week) and is a funding-based position.

Overview

The candidate will work in consort with the CFO to maintain financial accountability requirements

  • Ensure accuracy of quarterly reporting.
  • Assist our Client with their reporting, forecasting, and budget amendments.
  • Work daily in Teams to ensure documents are saved, filed, and shared appropriately.
  • Keep track of timelines of reporting and past‑due reporting.
  • Communicate directly with our Client to support them in their reporting.
  • Assist in creation of contract documents pertinent to funding (ie. Contribution agreements, payment letters, updated cashflow templates, etc.) as needed.
  • Other related duties as directed by the CFO and CEO.

Location: Edmonton, AB

Responsibilities
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products, specifically Excel and Teams.
  • Possess at least three years of accounting / financial knowledge, terminology and how to use accounting software (Sage50) or similar.
  • Capacity to quickly learn software.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule demanding work assignments.
  • Develop and maintain efficient and effective record‑keeping systems and procedures.
  • Possess advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess a working knowledge of financial cash flows, budgeting, forecasting and other financial documents such as income statements and balance sheets.
  • Ability to gather and research relevant data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of urban Indigenous Movement, structure, and processes will be considered an asset.
Requirements (or Qualifications)

Post Secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related equivalencies; at least three years of accounting and/or finance experience that relates to the duties and responsibilities
