The Hilb Group is currently seeking a motivated and ambitious Benefits Specialist to join our team. This position will report to our agency located in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate will be motivated to succeed, is well organized, able to prioritize, and able to work well with a team. This is an in-office position.

Responsibilities
  • Continually strives to build and maintain professional working relationships with accounts by exercising superior customer service and adhering to Integrum Advisor’s needs-based selling techniques.
  • Provides high quality, timely and dependable service to new and existing group customers on monthly, bi-annual, quarterly or annual basis as established under the client contract.
  • Communicates and submits arranged schedule with the Senior Vice President and Benefits - Team Lead via Outlook Calendar a minimum of three (3) weeks prior to set appointments. Provides confirmation notification of meeting / visit to point of contact with established account in a timely manner.
  • Conducts all mandatory visits, calls and meetings with account(s) and provides educational information pertaining to current benefit plans and / or new product offerings based upon account’s needs.
  • In a 1-on-1 group setting, sells and writes disability, life and all other supplemental (group / voluntary) products utilizing electronic enrollment platform or other enrollment documents as appropriate.
  • Ensures all informational materials (i.e. printer, papers, forms, and brochures) are available for use and distribution to account employees and presents in an organized and professional manner.
  • Provides claims processing assistance to assigned accounts as needed and submits all appropriate paperwork to carrier. Ensures proper filing of claims documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • Processes and assists Benefit Consultants and Account Managers with renewal marketing as requested. Ensures all educational opportunities are utilized for maximum participation with account employees.
  • Prospects for new lines of coverage to maximize market penetration and increase participation within existing accounts.
  • Uses cross-selling and needs-based selling techniques designed by Integrum Advisors / Hilb Group to increase participation in insurance offerings.
  • Provides worksite insurance products for developing customized employee benefit packages through planning annual benefit enrollments and group presentations.
  • Alongside the account manager and benefits - team lead, assists in preparing census and new business application information prior to enrollment meetings. Ensures all materials are organized and available for use during meeting.
  • Establishes new account files with customer information and appropriate paperwork and files in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Remains in compliance with HIPPA regulations and exercises the utmost degree of confidentiality throughout the duration of group account meetings and enrollment periods.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of compensation practices for Automotive Dealerships and other industries in order to best service established accounts.
  • Ensures all employee health, compensation and other account information remains private and confidential as advised and required by The Hilb Group.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly activity report and submits to Senior Vice President and / or Benefits - Team Lead utilizing the designated spreadsheet format.
  • Prepares weekly updates on service issues, claim issues and billing issues and submits to Benefits - Team Lead and Account Team (Benefit Consultants and Account Managers).
  • Completes monthly expense reports and submits to Senior Vice President for reimbursement by the 25th of each month (for the prior month’s expenses).
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred.
  • Possession of current Virginia state insurance license health / life annuities is preferred; Employee who does not possess licensure will be required to obtain Insurance Licensure (Health, Life and Annuities) within 30 days of initial employment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
