Primary Purpose
Reporting directly to the Vice President, Academic, the Associate Vice President, Research & Innovation is a strategic and collaborative academic leader who advances the academic priorities of the university and oversees highly significant and complex administrative processes. The AVPRI serves as the Acting Vice President Academic in the absence of the VPA.
The AVPRI will have direct supervisory responsibility for the Innovation Hub, the University Access Program (UAP), and shared responsibility for Career Services. There will be the opportunity for the AVPRI to work on strategic projects as directed by the VPA or ones that they identify.

Qualifications
- Knowledge of the role of the Vice-President Academic in the Canadian university setting.
- In-depth knowledge of the Canadian post-secondary organizational and policy environment, with relevant experience in academic administration, and familiarity with academic culture and organization.
- A proven track record of leading cross-functional teams in planning, review, budget development, academic organization, and administration.
- Ability to lead significant change, mentor teams, and engage a broad range of people in pursuit of organizational goals.
- Knowledge in teaching, pedagogy, educational leadership, and current developments in learning design and technology.
- Foster a culture of innovation, inclusiveness, and continuous learning, with familiarity in academic organizational culture, HR, policy development, and implementation.
- Experience working collaboratively and leading teams to achieve objectives through dialogue and negotiation.
- Strong business and financial skills, with a focus on evidence-based decision-making and accountability.
- Excellent listening skills, diplomatic and tactful communication, high integrity, and sound judgment.
- Demonstrated intercultural understanding and commitment to equity and diversity, especially regarding international students.
Education & Experience
- Doctoral degree with scholarly activity record
- At least 5-7 years of university faculty experience
- Preferred minimum of 5 years in relevant leadership or administrative roles in higher education (e.g., Dean, Chair)
